Commemorate your loved one

Commemorate your loved one

The Workers’ Commemorative Park is a place of remembrance and reflection. It honours the lives of workers who died because of their work, acknowledging their contributions, and the lasting impact of their loss. It is a space where memories live on and where those lost are never forgotten.

The Park has been thoughtfully designed to include commemorative plaques as part of its memorial landscape. These plaques provide a permanent and meaningful way to honour those lost at work. There is no cost to families for the creation or installation of a plaque.

If you have lost a family member due to a workplace incident, you may choose to commemorate them with a plaque in the park. It doesn’t matter whether your loved one’s death occurred recently or many years ago. Every worker Tasmanian worker can be remembered here.

Plaques are voluntary and Unions Tasmania will only install them at the request of a family member or their legal representative. There is no obligation to take part, and we understand that remembrance is deeply personal. Some families choose a private path of remembrance, while others find comfort in a permanent public tribute. Both choices are fully respected.

To begin the process, please complete the enquiry form on this page. We will work with you carefully and respectfully to ensure your loved one is remembered in a way that reflects your family’s wishes.

Families may also choose to share stories, photographs, or reflections. With care and consent, these may contribute to future commemorative events or educational initiatives, helping ensure that each life remembered continues to inspire safer workplaces for all.

On International Workers’ Memorial Day, which falls on the 28th of April each year, the plaques will be installed and the names of new plaques will be read out at the service Unions Tasmania conducts at the park.

If you have any questions, need guidance, or would like to talk through the process, please don’t hesitate to contact us on (03) 6216 7600 or email admin@unionstas.com.au.
